Music performances, an art exhibition, and a theatre play marked International Youth Day last night on the plaza in front of the Youth Center in Seljanovo. The day is celebrated worldwide every August 12th, aiming to highlight the importance of young people in society — their ideas, creativity, and active participation in the community.

The program was jointly organized by the Municipality of Tivat and the Youth Center, featuring young musicians, actors, and visual artists from the city.

Evening Program

The program featured performances by youth bands Outskirts, Korpus, and Bluegreens, with songs by Sara Vraneš also part of the musical lineup. Visitors also had the chance to view an art exhibition by young visual artists Pavle Šljukić and Katarina Višić, while the theatre play “Valja odit’ na more” was part of the program as well.

Officials’ Messages

The President of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, congratulated young people on their day and encouraged them to boldly step into the future:

“Dear young people of Tivat, I want to congratulate you on International Youth Day with that famous saying — that all great journeys and great adventures begin with a single small step. You have already taken many steps. You are growing up in an interesting time of prosperity, both for your city and the entire country, at a time when Montenegro is on the threshold of joining the European Union, and Tivat is the only municipality in Montenegro that, under the new legal provisions, has met the conditions to be granted city status.”

He also emphasized the importance of young people gathering around the Youth Center as a place where they can develop and channel their talents, stating that the Municipality of Tivat will always support their efforts, aspirations, and ambitions.

Olivera Mišković Vidojević, Secretary of the Secretariat for Social Activities of the Municipality of Tivat, thanked the audience for turning out in large numbers to support young talents from Tivat:

“Here we have young actors, journalists, presenters, painters — young people who enrich our city. I want to tell them that we will continue to provide institutional support, listen to their ideas, and work together to bring them to life.”

She also had a special message for young people from Tivat currently studying elsewhere, expressing hope that they will one day return and contribute to the city’s growth and development.
